Felix In Fabula Lives Up to Favoritism for Tale of the Cat
Felix In Fabula (4c Tale of The Cat x Mecanique, by Maria’s Mon) showed why he went off as favorite on Friday when easily winning for the eighth time in his career at Aqueduct.
Relishing a change in the race conditions that saw the race run at a mile on the dirt, Felix In Fabula was placed a few paths off the rail in the allowance race. With Javiar Castellano aboard, the colt was always within striking range and made a run at the leader in the far turn. The leader gave a good fight but Felix In Fabula put him away in midstretch and crossed the wire four lengths in front of the field with ease for owner Robert Amendola.
The victory takes the Mertkan Kantamaci trainee’s earnings to nearly $350,000 with the 4-year-old finishing in the top three 20 times in his career.
Bred by Cross Sabres Farm, Felix In Fabula is one of three winners for his dam Mecanique. The mare is a half-sister to Group I winners El Benicio and Thano and is out of a half-sister to South African Horse of the Year Ilustrador and the dam of Chilean Horse of the Year Quick Casablanca.
A consistent sire of top performers, Tale of the Cat has sired 108 stakes winners and 235 stakes horses led by seven-time Grade I winner Gio Ponti and nine other Grade I winners.
