Air Force Blue yearling colt (hip 111) selling for $280,000 at Saratoga

First Air Force Blue Yearlings In Demand

The first yearlings by European Champion 2YO Air Force Blue were in demand at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected sale yesterday with three sold from three offered, averaging nearly $195,000.

Leading the way was the Four Star Sales consigned Hip 111 (pictured), a gorgeous colt from the family of El Gran Senor who was purchased by Fozzy Stack for $280,000. A pair of quality fillies sold for $200,000 and $100,000 to DJ Stables and Nick Zito respectively.

Air Force Blue also had a colt sell at the recent Hokkaido Selection yearling sale in Japan for $305,000 to North Hills Co.

Bred by Stone Farm, Air Force Blue was himself a $490,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase. The precocious son of War Front won 3 straight Gr.1s in a stellar juvenile campaign that saw him the highest rated 2YO ever trained by Aidan O’Brien.
