First foal for Champion 2YO Air Force Blue
Air Force Blue’s first foal has arrived; a quality, bay filly out of the Tiznow mare Havelsee born Jan. 16 at Jason and Ashley Schappert's Leading Edge Farm near Ocala, Fla.
"She's well put together and looks like a runner," said Richard Kent of Kaizen Sales, which handles Leading Edge Farm's sale consignments.
Bred by Stone Farm, Air Force Blue was a $490,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase. The highly precocious son of War Front from W.T. Young’s Grade 1 family of Flanders and Surfside broke his maiden as early as the month of May, despite being a May foal, and went on to record three straight Group 1 successes in the Phoenix Stakes, Vincent O’Brien National Stakes and the Dewhurst Stakes.
Timeform and Racing Post were unanimous in rating him 5 lbs superior to the next best colt of his generation.
