First Yearlings By Ashford Trio Offered At Fasig-Tipton February
First yearlings by Grade I winners Echo Town, Maximum Security, and Tiz The Law grace the ring at this year’s Fasig-Tipton Winter Mixed Sale on February 6 and 7 in Lexington, Ky.
Grade I winner Echo Town sees his first go through the ring as Hip 273 from the Jonathan W. Meredith consignment on Monday. Bred by William Nicks and South Fork Creek Stable, that filly is a half-sister to Grade II placed Carried Interest. They are out of a full sister to the multiple graded stakes winner Allamerican Bertie in addition to being a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Hurricane Bertie.
The Indiana-bred filly also comes from the family of multiple Grade I winner Beach Patrol with 13 stakes performers under her two dams on the page. Her own dam has produced seven winners from eight to race, including 18-time winner Invocation.
Echo Town’s other offering is a Louisiana-bred filly out of the winning Scat Daddy mare Surf Ride going through the ring as Hip 410.
Bred by Rebecca Farms, the filly’s granddam is the Grade III placed Perennial Song, who herself is out of a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Yearly Report and stakes placed Quarterly Report. Yearly Report is the dam of Grade I winner Condo Commando and multiple graded stakes placed Checklist with Condo Commando producing Grade III winner Command Line and multiple graded stakes placed Al Jannah.
Mulholland Springs sends the only offering by champion Maximum Security through the ring as Hip 275. Bred by Dr. Sherry Le Talowsky, the colt is out of six-time winner Miss Del Gallo.
That mare is also the dam of stakes placed Allen’s Rocket and the granddam of Grade III winner Flat Out Speed and stakes placed Bonnieview. Miss Del Gallo is also a half-sister to stakes winner Aspen Hill, who produced multiple stakes placed Towson with the page including Grade I winners Victory Speech and Ida Delia. Each of the colt’s first six dams have produced stakes performers with all but his own dam producing at least one stakes winner.
Four-time Grade I winner Tiz The Law has three set to enter the ring at Fasig-Tipton with two coming on the first day of selling, starting with Hip 1.
That Taylor Made-offered filly is the second foal out of four-time winner Youvegottopaytopla, a daughter of stakes placed Divalarious. That mare is the dam of four winners from five to race, including five-time winner Baskerville who has already won in 2022.
BlackRidge Stables bred the February-born filly, whose third dam is stakes winner Alidiva. Alidiva is the dam of three Grade I winners and four graded stakes winners overall in addition to this filly’s stakes placed second dam. In all, there are 13 stakes winners and 22 stakes performers listed under Alidiva’s name on the page.
Hip 126 is out of the Grade II winner and multiple Grade I-placed Dothraki Queen and comes from the Taylor Made consignment.
Bred by China Horse Club, she is the fifth foal out of that mare with Dothraki Queen having two runners led by Uncle Mo’s winning Pathetique and the placed Poronui, who has updated earnings since the catalog was released. Dothraki Queen is one of six winners for her own dam with that mare a half-sister to champion Ambitious Cat, dual champion Electronic Unicorn and Grade I Kentucky Oaks winner Blushing K.D.
Offered by Little’s Bloodstock, Hip 584 hails from the family of champion Serena’s Song. The colt’s dam Life Starts is a half-sister to Izzie’s Halo and a granddaughter to Serena’s Sister. A full sister to Serena’s Song, Serena’s Sister produced multiple graded stakes winner Doubles Partner and stakes winner Stormy Venus but was even more successful as a producer of producers.
Her daughter Princess Serena is the matriarch of a family that includes Grade I winners Zabeel Prince and Rizeena in addition to Grade II winners Queen Power, Summer Romance, and Puissance de Lune. In all, five of Serena’s Sister’s daughters have produced stakes performers, including this colt’s granddam.
Those looking for mares in foal to Tiz The Law have two opportunities, one coming on each day of the sale.
The first is the stakes producing Akris Queen as Hip 11 from Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services. Foaling a Practical Joke colt last year, Akris Queen produced stakes placed Breadman – a three-quarter brother to the foal she’s carrying. The other is Hip 539, the stakes winning Bow Bells.
Consigned by Blandford Stud, Bow Bells is the dam of Uncle Mo’s winning Princess Mo and American Pharoah’s With Bells On in addition to Justify’s placed 2-year-old Justifiable Bell. The mare produced another American Pharoah colt last year.
The Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale kicks off at 10am ET on February 6 and 7 with Hips 1 through 300 scheduled for Monday and the rest of the offerings scheduled for Tuesday.
