G1 Oaks Winner for Lookin at Lucky
Coolmore sires delivered the trifecta in the Grade I Clasico Las Oaks at Club Hipico de Santiago in Chile on Sunday with victory going to La Canita (3f Lookin at Lucky x La Trasnochada, by Scat Daddy) defeating Avay (3f Mastercraftsman x Aunt Nell, by Catienus) and Touching Gold (3f Mastercraftsman x Tornado del Sol, by Stevie Wonderboy).
Trained by Patricio Baeza, La Canita scored a dominant two length win in the 2000 metre turf contest taking her overall record to three wins from nine starts.
La Canita is the first winner for stakes-placed La Trasnochada, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Scat Daddy’s Grade I winner Cimalta.
She is the ninth Grade I winner for Lookin at Lucky, who has had a memorable year in 2018 with his top class son Accelerate winning the Grade I Breeders Cup Classic and his South American bred daughter Wow Cat winning the Grade I Belmont Beldame Stakes and finishing second in the Breeders Cup Distaff.
