God Is Love Continues Cupid’s Good Week
A sire on fire, Cupid scored another winner on Saturday when God Is Love (2c Cupid x Cozinneta, by Cozene) won in his second start.
The one mile dirt race at Gulfstream Park suited the colt well as he settled just off the pace and stalked the leader. As they entered the final quarter of the race, it was God Is Love’s time to shine and he went four wide to challenge for the lead.
The gray had to battle every step of the way down the lane but came out the winner by a head with the leading duo 5 ¾ lengths ahead of the rest of the field.
Trained by Enrique Torres, God Is Love is owned by The Winning King Corp.
He was bred in Kentucky by Nicholas M. Lotz out of the winning Cozzene mare Cozinneta. That mare’s three winners from five to race include stakes winner Devilish Love. Cozinneta is a half-sister to Group II winner and Group I-placed Montgomery’s Arch and stakes winner Welcome Inn with Australian Group I winner Moriarty also in the family.
A Grade I winner by sire-of-sires Tapit, Cupid’s eight winners puts him second among all North American freshman stallions with fewer than 30 starters.
