Grade Three Winner for Uncle Mo
Quality mare Miss Mo Mentum (4m Uncle Mo x Somalia, by Mineshaft) struck top form at Woodbine on Sunday to claim her third Black Type win in the Grade III Woodbine Trillium Stakes.
A stakes-winner at two that has trained on as an older mare, the Mark Casse prepared Miss Mo Mentum settled off the pace and hit the line hard to win the 1 and 1/16th mile contest by a length and a quarter.
“She doesn’t have early speed, but then she can get on the bridle and she kind of did in the first turn but then she relaxed pretty well,” said winning rider Jerome Lermyte.
“Mid-[far] turn I was starting to get really confident. She was showing me that she has a lot to give and she produced amazing acceleration and that made a difference.”
A $50,000 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling purchase raced by Gary Barber, Miss Mo Mentum has the overall record of five wins from 15 starts with prizemoney topping $270,000.
Miss Mo Mentum is a half-sister to Grade III winner Lookin for Eight from winning Mineshaft mare Somalia.
