Grade Two Win for Appealing Tale
Classy galloper Appealing Tale (5g Tale of the Cat x Appealing Bride, by Unbridled’s Song) notched his biggest win when taking out the $245,000 Grade II Pat O’Brien Stakes at Del Mar on the weekend.
The Peter Miller trained gelding has been racing well against tough opposition and broke through for his first Black Type success when leading throughout to win this seven furlong contest on dirt by half a length.
With an overall record of five wins and 12 placings from 24 starts with prizemoney of $533,222, Appealing Tale is headed for a tilt at the Grade I Breeders Cup Mile on dirt.
“I felt really good when I saw the :23 1/5 [quarter mile],” said Peter Miller.
“He’s such a fighter this horse, he loves a dogfight, and when they came up next to him I knew he wouldn’t give up. I felt pretty confident all the way. We’re pointing for the [Breeders’ Cup] Dirt Mile. He’s such a game horse and he can go anywhere from seven-eighths to a mile and a sixteenth, so the mile is right in his wheelhouse.”
Appealing Tale is the 99th stakes-winner for veteran sire Tale of the Cat and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Colerful Bride from Appealing Bride.
