Group I Winner Toplucky On Top Again in Chile
Group I winner Toplucky (5h Lookin At Lucky x Topisima, by Powerscourt) added another stakes victory to his resume in Chile on Friday with a win in the Listed Clasico Luis Aldunate Careera.
Racing over 1 ¼ miles on the turf at Club Hipico Santiago, the Lookin At Lucky son was biding his time in the back of the four horse field when well in hand early on. Racing along the rail, Toplucky skipped through a hole with two furlongs left to go before chasing down Shanghai Bobby’s Keltoi to win by a head.
It was the second straight victory for Toplucky, who has won 10 of his 30 career starts with 12 other on-the-board finishes for Patricio Baeza and owner Quinchao.
The Haras Paso Nevado-bred horse is one of two stakes horses by Lookin At Lucky out of Topisima alongside the Group III-placed Topman. Topisima is a half-sister to Chilean Champion 2-Year-Old Colt Truly Funny and a full sister to Grade II winner Troya, who herself has a stakes winner and Group II-placed son by Lookin At Lucky.
A value sire year after year, dual-champion racehorse Lookin At Lucky is the sire of 60 stakes winners and 109 stakes horses led by 14 Grade I winners.
