Haddassah Another Winner for Air Force Blue
It was a winning start for Haddassah (2g Air Force Blue x Lady Haddassah, by Whywhywhy) on Sunday when he won on debut at Woodbine to become Air Force Blue’s 11th winner.
Racing over a mile on the all weather, Haddassah got comfortable on the rail and raced in midpack just a few lengths behind the leader. The Kevin Attard trainee started passing horses down the fence in the far turn before switching to the outside for his run at the leader.
Haddassah was determined to take home the win, digging deep to take over the lead. The gelding’s work paid off when he saw his nose in front in the final sixteenth before pulling away to win by half a length for owner-breeders Al and Bill Ulwelling.
Haddassah is out of 10-time winner and stakes placed Lady Haddassah, who has two winners from two to run. They hail from the family of dual Grade I winner Pioneerof the Nile and Grade II winner Powis Castle.
A champion racehorse himself and now one of the leading freshman sires, Air Force Blue has sired 11 winners including the dual stakes placed Chief Little Hawk and Grade II fourth Mashnee Girl.
