Idaho Gelding Remains Unbeaten In Valuable Bumper

Idaho Sun (5g Idaho – West Elite, by Westerner) made it two from two when landing Sunday’s valuable bumper at Windsor’s Berkshire Winter Millions meeting.

The form of his debut win had worked out well, with the runner-up later winning at listed level, whilst the third also subsequently scored. Harry Fry’s charge was sent off joint second favourite to follow up under Bryan Carver and raced in touch with the leaders for much of the way. Pushed along to lead approaching the final furlong, he ran on well to score by three lengths.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said: “I've always really liked Idaho Sun and he's proved us right at Newton Abbot and again today. He's got a great attitude and takes everything in his stride, this was only his second time on the track but he seems very professional about it already.”

Owned by Jeremy Gear and bred by Tom McAuliffe, Idaho Sun was bought by Kevin Ross at the Goffs Arkle Sale for €60,000. He continues a fine run for Idaho’s first crop, with Carry On Heidi having won the five-year-old mares maiden at Ballindenisk the previous weekend.
