Impressive Australian Winner For Air Force Blue
Roxy Blue (2f Air Force Blue x Rock Out, by Rock of Gibraltar) was an impressive winner in Australia on Friday with a four length victory in her debut at Port Lincoln.
Trained by Travis Doudle for Mr G P Brind, Mrs J S Brind, Mr L D Brind, Mr J M Falkenberg, Mr T J Doudle, and Mr S J Theodore, the filly excelled over the five furlongs with Ms. Scarlet So aboard.
Breaking like a shot, race favorite Roxy Blue bolted to the lead from the start and kept the field at least a length behind her at every point. So kept a firm hold on the filly until the final 1½ furlongs when she gave Roxy Blue her head. Roxy Blue pulled away from there to prick her ears as she crossed the line as Air Force Blue’s 19th worldwide winner.
Bred by co-owner Mr. G P Brind, the filly is the first out of four-time winning Rock Of Gibraltar mare Rock Out. That mare is out of a half-sister to New Zealand Group I winner Al Akbar and from the family of Group I Derby Italiano winner Don Orazio, Group I Champion Stakes winner Swiss Maid and Australian Group I winners Volkstok’n’barrell and Getting Closer.
A Champion 2-Year-Old himself, Air Force Blue has seen 19 runners from his first crop win in four different countries, including four stakes performers.
