Impressive Stakes Win for Fusaichi Red
Talented filly Fusaichi Red (3f Fusaichi Pegasus x Gloomy I’m Knot, by D’Wildcat) found the right race to highlight her merits when cruising home for an impressive win in the $72,800 Miss Woodford Stakes at Monmouth on the weekend.
With plenty of speed engaged, noted late closer Fusaichi Red had conditions made to order and duly zoomed home from back in the field to win the six furlong sprint by three and three-quarter lengths.
The George Weaver trained filly has not missed a place in six starts recording two wins and four placings with prizemoney topping $100,000.
“She didn’t break well, but we were in a good spot because of the early speed,” said winning rider Orlando Bocachica.
“Going into the turn, I didn’t want to go too wide, but I wanted to give her room to run. Once we got to the middle of the stretch, she had a lot left.”
The 74th stakes-winner worldwide for Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus, Fusaichi Red is the first winner for Gloomy I’m Knot, whose third dam was 1972 Champion US Filly Susan’s Girl.
