Inuit Adds to Caravaggio’s Winner Total in France
France gave Caravaggio his latest winner on Friday when Inuit (2c Caravaggio x Prairie Blossom, by Dalakhani) won at Lyon la Soie in his second career start.
The x dirt race had the gray race up on the outside of the pack to shadow the leader all the way around. Racing into the final furlong, he stuck his nose in front before extending his lead down the stretch.
It was easy work once he was in front as he put three lengths on the runner-up at the line.
Trained by Christophe Ferland, the colt owned by Marie-Therese Dubuc-Grassa was bred by Haras Du Saubouas and Magnolia Bloodstock in the country.
Inuit is out of a Dalakhani half-sister to multiple group winner Prairie Star, Group II winner Pacific Rim and stakes-placed Prairie Flower. Pacific Rim is the dam of multiple Australian stakes winner Paths of Glory and Prairie Flower has produced two stakes performers of her own with an unraced half-sister also producing multiple graded stakes winner Pretty Baby.
Caravaggio’s 22 winners leads all North American freshmen by number of juvenile winners and two other categories with seven stakes performers and four graded stakes performers. He also has the second most juvenile winners of any Northern Hemisphere sire in 2021.
