Jaxon Traveler a Runaway Winner for Munnings

Munnings’ third juvenile winner in two days, Jaxon Traveler (2c Munnings x Listen Boy, by After Market) romped home at Pimlico on debut to earn TDN Rising Star status on Friday afternoon.

Racing over six furlongs, Jaxon Traveler went immediately to the lead and raced professionally when pressured by the field early on. Racing around the turn, Jaxon Traveler started building his lead and entered the stretch with a two length advantage and was only going to get better from there.

Johan Rosado glanced over his shoulder in the final furlong and gave the colt an easy ride to win by an impressive 10 lengths for West Point Thoroughbreds and Marvin Delfiner.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Jaxon Traveler was purchased for $140,000 at OBS earlier this year from Grassroots Training and Sales by West Point Thoroughbreds.

The Dr. and Mrs. A. Leonard Pineau-bred colt is one of four winners from four to race out of the stakes placed Listen Boy. That mare is one of three stakes horses for Grade II fourth Shadow of Mine, who is a half-sister to six stakes horses led by Grade III winner Keys to the Heart and stakes winning, Grade I-placed Avie’s Shadow.

The biggest value stallion in North America, Munnings has had an exceptional 2020 with 18 stakes horses led by 10 stakes winners and five graded stakes winners. The stallion’s juveniles have already come out running with nine winners from his 2018 crop led by stakes winning and Grade I-placed Alda.
