Just FYI Continues Championship Week for Justify
Only days after runners from Justify’s 2021 crop earned both European Champion 2-Year-Old Colt and Filly titles, the stallion’s daughter Just FYI was named Eclipse Champion 2-Year-Old Filly.
A homebred for George Krikorian, Just FYI broke her maiden at Saratoga in late August by a head in her only non-Grade I start of the year. Just over a month later in her second start, Just FYI showed why trainer Bill Mott entered her in a Grade I when she stayed undefeated with a 3 ¾ length victory in the Frizette Stakes.
The cherry on top of her juvenile campaign came across the country at Santa Anita when the Bill Mott trainee won the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies by a neck.
Just FYI was one of two Breeders’ Cup winners for Justify last year with Hard To Justify winning the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf one race later. That filly was also a finalist in the category and finished second in the Eclipse voting.
Just FYI’s dam Star Act foaled another Justify filly last year.
Though he only had two crops on the track in 2023, Justify proved to be a top sire with his six Grade I winners leading all North American stallions. His juvenile success saw him lead every stakes category in the juvenile sire rankings with nine winners and 13 stakes performers leading the way.
He also led all Northern Hemisphere sires by number of juvenile stakes winners, graded stakes winners with six, and both Grade I winners and performers.
His four Grade I winners was two better than the closest Northern Hemisphere sire and three better than the closest North American sire.
