Just Katherine Romps for Justify at Gulfstream

Just Katherine (3f Justify x Reve Enchante, by Medaglia d’Oro) was an eye-catching Maiden Special Weight winner for her sire on Saturday with a 5 ¼ length romp at Gulfstream Park.

After a rough start in the seven furlong dirt race, the illy was second last early on but quickly made her way through the field to sit just behind the leader. Going three wide around the far turn, she had the lead with a quarter left to run and started to roll from there.

Moved closer to the rail, she drew off under urging from jockey Leonel Reyes to win by 5 ¼ lengths with the third placed runner seven lengths back.

Trained by Jose Jimenez for R T Racing Stable, Just Katherine has hit the board in all three career starts. She was bred by Boyd Brooks, Louis Brooks Ranch Limited Partnership, and Hugh Owen in Kentucky out of Reve Enchante. That mare is also the dam of Grade III winner Dream It Is and is a granddaughter of European champion Bosra Sham.

Just Katherine was one of three winners around the world for her sire on Saturday with two of those winning at the graded stakes level.
