Justify Colt Tops Second Keeneland Session at $625,000
Undefeated Triple Crown winner Justify was on top yet again during the second session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale when his weanling colt Just Before Dawn was the most expensive offering of the session at $625,000.
Purchased by M.V. Magnier from the Lane’s End consignment and bred by Summer Wind Farm, the colt is a half-brother to eight winners from eight to race out of Unenchantedevening. That mare’s successful runners are led by dual Grade I winner Moonshine Memories, stakes winner Indian Evening, and Uncle Mo’s stakes placed Mo For The Money.
“(The Justify offspring) look like they are a very special group of horses,” Magnier said. “Everybody seems to be very high on them. They are a very exciting bunch of horses. The pedigrees, the physiques and everything about them and the way Justify was such a good racehorse, we have a huge amount of faith in them. Justify is making super strong horses. All seem to be good movers and everything. The lads at home say (the Justify yearlings) are simple to deal with.”
A winner at three, Unenchantedevening is a half-sister to Horse of the Year Favorite Trick and four other stakes performers. Included among those stakes performers is the third dam of Justify’s brilliant multiple Grade 1 winning studmate Tiz the Law.
Moonshine Memories’ first foal is a yearling Justify filly. She has an Uncle Mo weanling filly as well.
Weanlings from Justify’s second crop are averaging over $490,000, led by a $1,223,337 colt out of champion Caledonia Road.
