Justify Magic Millions Offerings Led By AU$1.3 Million Colt

It was a hot week at the sales for Justify with the stallion grabbing attention both at the Keeneland and Magic Million sales, led by an AU$1.3 million yearling in Australia.

Purchased by Gai Waterhouse, Adrian Bott and Kestrel Thoroughbreds, the Coolmore-consigned colt sold on behalf of Morning Rise Stud is the first out of multiple Group III winner and Group I-placed Invincible Star. The page also includes Group I winners Innocent King, Unearthy, and Invest with each of the mares with racing age foals on the page producing at least one group winner.

“Invincible Star had an incredible race record, the colt is off a great farm and the fact we’re enjoying some success with the stallion, it just gives you a lot more confidence to go into those type of horses,” Bott said. “Justify is doing a phenomenal job worldwide, in America, Europe, and we’re starting to see that success down here in Australia. It helps you be confident and go in strong on those horses.”

Justify’s second most expensive of the sale was an AU$650,000 colt offered by breeder Milburn Creek. Purchased by Rosemont Stud, Suman Hedge Bloodstock, and MG Price Racing & Breeding, the colt is the second out of three-time winner Tatiara.

Tatiara is out of the multiple Group II winner Gallant Tess, who produced stakes winner Rock Hero, and multiple group placed All Too soon among her five winners from eight to race. This page also has an American connection with dual U.S. Grade I winner Little Brianne listed.

“He’s an extremely athletic horse, very active, and I do a lot of work with Milburn Creek and am really familiar with the horse and he’s always been a star from the day that he was foaled,” said Suman Hedge. “We were very keen to get him. The stallion is flying overseas, he’s got a couple of promising horses over here and it’s a pretty deep pedigree so we thought he ticked a lot of boxes.”

Seeing other yearlings sell for AU$400,000, AU$380,000, AU$300,000, etc., Justify’s average of $500,714 was fifth best among all sires at the sale with his least expensive offering bringing $225,000.
