Justify Offerings Popular at Keeneland November

A pair of Justify weanlings led the way for his offerings when sold for $525,000 during the first week of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

A Justify colt out of Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Thundering Emilia was purchased by Teddy Town Thoroughbreds for $525,000 as the fifth highest priced weanling during the first session. Thundering Emilia has also produced Grade I winner Emilia’s Moon and Grade II winner Helium in addition to the Grade III-placed Mighty Scarlet.

This is a strong page from top to bottom with his granddam the Grade III winner Saint Emilia, who is also the granddam of champion Valiant Emilia and stakes winner Warrior Heart among others.

The third session saw CSWV buy a Justify filly out of Ada Lovelace from Elite for $525,000.

The filly is out of three-time winner Ada Lovelace, whose one winner from two to race is five-time winner Indian Empire. Ada Lovelace is a half-sister to champion Mitole and Grade I winner Hot Rod Charlie among the four winners from five to race out of Indian Miss.

Indian Miss’s own siblings include Grade II winner Live Lively with the duo out of stakes winner Glacken’s Gal, one of three stakes winners out of her own dam.

Justify also saw another weanling sell for $425,000 while his daughter Blurry Memory, a daughter of dual Grade I winner Moonshine Memories, sold in foal to Munnings for $420,000.

Among Justify’s in-foal mares was the $675,000 Churchill mare Perotan, selling to Ecurie des Monceaux with an April 13 cover.

A stakes-winning mare, Perotan is a half-sister to Grade I winner Matterhorn and multiple Grade II winner and Grade I-placed The Foxes among six stakes winners out of stakes placed Tanaghum. Tanaghum is also the granddam of Group I winner Ribchester with another daughter producing two other group winners.

Carrying to Justify on a February 20 cover for her first foal, Butterfly Rose sold to BBA Ireland for $525,000 late in the first session.

The Galileo mare is out of Grade I winner Awesome Maria, the dam of two winners from three to race. Awesome Maria is a half-sister to the dam of Canadian champion and Grade I winner Cairo Consort out of a half-sister to Grade I winners Discreet Cat and Discreetly Mine.

Justify has had a big 2023 in the sales ring and on the racetrack with the stallion’s six Grade I winners the best of any North American stallion.
