Justify Weanlings Make North American Debut at Fasig-Tipton
When Hip 3 walks into the Fasig-Tipton pavilion on Sunday, it will be a moment everyone has been waiting for since 2018 – the first time a Justify foal is offered at public auction in North America.
Triple Crown winner Justify sees seven weanlings from of some of the best families in the world go under the hammer on Sunday, starting with that filly out of Essential Rose.
Offered by Warrendale Sales, the Pennsylvania-bred filly from the Blackstone Farm program is a half-sister to stakes winner Rose’s Vision. Essential Rose is also a half-sister to Grade III-placed Leading Edge out of Essential Edge with another half-sister producing two stakes horses. The Scat Daddy cross has already proven to work with this family with Scat Daddy’s Grade III winner Flameaway under the weanling’s third dam.
Justify’s first foal born this year is his second through the ring on Sunday with a filly out of Foreign Affair selling as Hip 7. Consigned by Brookdale Sales, the bay bred by Audley Farm Equine is out of a winning half-sister to Group III winner and multiple Group I-placed So Perfect. Foreign Affair sold in this very ring last year while in-foal to Justify while the filly’s granddam Hopeoverexperience sold in the ring the year before for $1 million. A winner herself, Hopeoverexperience is also a half-sister to Grade II winner Cowtown Cat with this filly closely related to So Perfect, who is by Justify’s sire Scat Daddy.
Hip 30 out of Lastofthsummerwine has the perfect pedigree for success as a half-sister to three stakes winners and one other stakes horse. Offered by Four Star Sales for Magnolia Bloodstock and Lynch Bages, the January-born filly’s dam produced Grade II winner Conquest Panthera, multiple Grade III winner Happy Like a Foal, and stakes winner Hawaiian Noises in addition to Grade II-placed Maniacal. Lastofthsummerwine is also a half-sister to stakes winner Song Warrior and stakes-placed Yessiremychickadee with Grade I winners Nine Keys and Silver Voice half-siblings to Lastofthsummerwine’s dam.
Already named Justice, the chestnut colt going through the ring as Hip 81 is consigned by Bridie Harrison for Peter E. Blum. A half-brother to Uncle Mo’s winning Energizer, the colt is out of stakes-placed Spark, who is also a half-sister to stakes winner Supreme. Both Supreme and another sibling have produced stakes horses while their winning dam Mon Belle is a full sister to Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos.
A colt whose first four dams are either stakes winners or producers, Newstead Corp-bred Hip 104 from Hunter Valley Farm is out of Grade II winner and multiple Grade I-placed Well Monied. In addition to being a stakes winner herself, Well Monied is half-sister to Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Economic Model and stakes winners Jimmy Simms and Your Love. Winning stakes is a family tradition for this colt’s family with all but two of his first seven dams both producing stakes horses and seeing their daughters produce stakes horses.
A half-sister to three-time Grade I winner Lord Nelson, Hip 109 bred by Clearsky Farms will be going through the ring with Taylor Made Sales. A half-sister to four winners from four to race, the filly’s granddam is multiple Grade I winner and champion Miss Linda, whose dam is also a group winning producer of three stakes winners. Under the filly’s third dam, one also finds Grade I winners Miss Match and Carina Mia with 14 stakes winners named on the African Jade daughter’s page.
A half-sister to stakes winner Stillwater Cove, who has seen additional earnings since the catalog was released, the final Justify offering of the sale is Hip 134. The filly consigned by Crestwood Farm and out of Celibataire is bred by Rowland Hancock. Out of a half-sister to three stakes horses, the filly saw a big update in August with her dam’s Grade III-placed half-sister Wingspan the granddam of Group II Solario Stakes winner Etonian. In all, under her first two dams alone, there are nine stakes horses with the filly’s extended family also including Grade I winners Miner’s Mark, Traditionally, and My Flag among others.
The Fasig-Tipton November Sale kicks off at 2 p.m. ET in Lexington, Ky.
