King Of Dreams Easy 19th Winner For Air Force Blue
King Of Dreams (3c Air Force Blue x Cabbage Key, by A.P. Indy) won going away in a Maiden Special Weight at Gulfstream Park on Saturday for owner Victoria’s Ranch.
Trained by Juan Carlos Avila, the colt was hustled to the front from the gate in the 1 1/16 mile turf race. Galloping easily in front, the colt had plenty left as they turned into the stretch and he lengthened his margin. Easing up near the line, King Of Dreams won by 2 ½ lengths in his second start.
A $180,000 OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds purchase by Victor Martinez from Scanlon Training & Sales, King of Dreams was bred by Doug and Felicia Branham.
The colt is one of six winners from eight to race out of the multiple stakes placed Cabbage Key, whose foals include Grade I American Oaks fourth Tiz The Key. Cabbage Key is a half-sister to stakes winner Mystic and stakes placed Magical Affair with her dam a half-sister to Group I winner Gay Gallanta.
Cabbage Key also had a colt by Practical Joke last year.
The sire of 19 winners – sixth among all in his generation, Air Force Blue has also seen four runners from his first crop earn stakes placings.
