La Sardane Another Million-Dollar Mare In-Foal to Justify
One of two mares to sell in foal to Justify for seven figures at Sunday’s Fasig-Tipton November Sale, La Sardane brought $1.1 million from Katsumi Yoshida.
Consigned by Bluewater Sales, the multiple graded stakes winner visited the undefeated Triple Crown winner on March 18.
Bred and originally raced in France, La Sardane is one of four runners out of the stakes-placed Foresta, who is a half-sister to stakes winner and Group I-placed Milanais and Group I French 2000 Guineas runner-up Veneto.
Justify proved to be in high demand at Fasig-Tipton with his weanling out of Lastofthsummerwine selling for $400,000 as one of the most expensive weanlings of the sale. Among those in foal to Justify, Uncle Mo’s daughter Bast sold for $4.2 million with all three mares in foal to him bringing no less than $500,000.
