Living Magic Second Stakes Winner of Day for Justify

It was a second juvenile stakes winner on the day for Justify on Saturday when Living Magic (2f Justify x Living the Life, by Footstepsinthesand) won the Listed My Dear Stakes.

The Henry Nothhaft homebred was bouncing back from third in a stakes last out when she took on the 5 ½ furlongs on the all weather surface was immediately made it clear she’d be a contender here. Breaking as one of the best in the field, she took a small lead almost immediately and built a comfortable half-length on the pressing Stormcast from there.

Putting Stormcast away in the final quarter, she then had to hold off Munnings’ Dancing Duchess in the stretch. She did exactly that to win by three quarters of a length for a first stakes victory.

Trained by Phil Schoenthal, Living Magic has won two of her three starts with her only loss coming when third last out in the Astoria Stakes.

Living Magic is out of the multiple graded stakes winner Living The Life, who is the dam of two winners from three to race. Living The Life is out of a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Step With Style and Group III placed Absolute Glee.

This is also the extended family of multiple Group I winner Nashwa and Group I winner Awzaan. Living The Life also has a yearling colt by Justify.

This is the second straight weekend Justify has had two Saturday stakes winners with his 3-year-olds taking the stage last year when Aspen Grove and Verifying both won graded stakes.
