Lookin At Lucky’s Lovely Lucky Puts On Show in Saratoga Allowance
Lovely Lucky (4f Lookin At Lucky x Dynaffair, by Dynaformer) impressively raced to her second straight win on Friday in a Saratoga Allowance on the turf.
Running over 1 3/8 miles, she relished every inch of the ground under Jose Ortiz as she raced in second just off the leader. Hard to miss with her big white face, Lovely Lucky was happy to maintain her position for much of the race before making her move entering the far turn.
She drew even with the leader in midturn and by the stretch was ready to fly under Ortiz. In the final furlong, Lovely Lucky took over the lead and there was no catching her from there as she romped to a 6¾ length win for owner Elizabeth Mateo.
Trained by Thomas Albertrani and bred by Vartan Vartanov, the filly has done most of her racing as a 4-year-old after a debut last December at Aqueduct. Breaking her maiden last out by a nose, Lovely Lucky thrived on the added distance in Friday’s race.
A half-sister to Listed winning Assembly Hall, Lovely Lucky is a granddaughter of Group I-winning Fairy Heights, who is also the great-granddam of Grade II winner Dantsu Prius with New Zealand Champion Turn Me Loose also in the family.
One of the top value sires year after year, Lookin At Lucky has sired 93 winners in 2020, including 12 stakes horses and four stakes winners led by Grade II winner and Grade I Kentucky Derby hopeful Wells Bayou.
