Lookin At Lucky’s Lucky Move Wins Empire Distaff
Already a stakes winner this year, Lucky Move (6m Lookin At Lucky x Quiet Mover, by Quiet American) tallied up another stakes success in Saturday’s Empire Distaff Handicap at Belmont Park.
Racing over 1 1/16 miles, Lucky Move took up her position at the back and easily galloped along under Irad Ortiz Jr. in the stretched out field. As they entered the far turn, the mare started making her move, easily passing horses to enter the stretch next to the leaders.
The mare sat herself down for a battle and quickly put the field behind her as she pulled away to a 1¾ length victory for Ten Strike Racing and trainer Juan Guerrero.
Lucky Move took her career earnings to nearly $375,000 with the victory – only $240 under that milestone – in a career that has seen her win six of 31 starts with 11 other on the board finishes.
Bred by Maltese Cross Stables and Stonegate Stables, Lucky Move is one of two winners for Quiet Move from the family of Grade I winner Hail a Cab and champion Islam.
One of the top value sires in Kentucky, Lookin At Lucky is the sire of 59 worldwide stakes winners and 109 stakes horses with 37 graded stakes winners, led by 13 Grade I winners.
