Miss Justify Wins Second Stakes in Seneca

It was another stakes victory for Justify’s Miss Justify (3f Justify x Swiss Alps, by Majesticperfection) on Saturday when the filly won the Seneca Overnight Stakes at Churchill Downs.

Making her second start under the twin spires, the Todd Pletcher trainee raced just a few lengths off the leader in the 1 1/16-mile dirt race when going three wide around the track. With just over a quarter left to run, the filly challenged for the lead with the longtime leader grudgingly giving it up.

Miss Justify had to dig in deep even after she was in command with Life Talk closing strongly to cut her margin to half a length in the end.

This is the second stakes victory in her last three starts for Miss Justify, who was also fourth in the Grade I Alabama last month. The winner of four of her seven career races, Miss Justify races for Twin Oaks Bloodstock, Joseph Bulger, Will Campbell, and IEE Racing Stables.

Miss Justify was bred in Kentucky by Killora Stud out of the winning Swiss Alps, who is also the dam of American Pharoah’s two-time winner Swiss Guard from two to race. Swiss Alps is a three-quarter sister to the stakes winning Holiday Soiree, who is also the dam of Grade I winner Vahva and stakes placed Signal From Noise. The mare is also a half-sister to stakes winner Marquee Prince and the dam of the stakes placed Boreas.

Swiss Alps returned to a Coolmore stallion last year, foaling a colt by champion Epicenter in 2024.

This was the second stakes winner in a week for Justify, who also saw Dawn Service win a stakes in Australia last weekend.
