Mo Forza (Uncle Mo) Wins Gr.2 City Of Hope Mile at Santa Anita

Mo Forza Gallops to Easy G2 City of Hope Victory

Mo Forza (4c Uncle Mo x Inflamed, by Unusual Heat) continued his domination of the California turf on Saturday evening with a win in the Grade II City of Hope Mile at Santa Anita.

Racing near the back of the field in the mile race, the colt settled comfortably under Flavin Prat with only two horses beat. That changed as Mo Forza left his spot on the rail in the turn to race outside of horses with Prat barely moving as they strolled to the lead in the stretch.

Never asked for his best, Mo Forza easily galloped to a 1¾ length victory for owners Bardy Farm and OG Boss.

Trained by Peter Miller, Mo Forza has now won six of 12 career starts with six victories in his last seven starts. Five of those victories came at the graded stakes level, headlined by the G1 Hollywood Derby.

“He relaxes early and then you saw the way he finished up,” said Miller’s assistant Ruben Alvarado. “He ran today just like he did at Del Mar. We’re very happy and we’re looking forward to the Breeders’ Cup (Mile).”

Bred by Bardy Farm, Mo Forza is out of a full sister to Grade II winner Burns and Grade I-placed Brushburn. Inflamed also has a yearling Munnings colt to come.

Leading sire Uncle Mo is the sire of 38 graded stakes winners, 67 stakes winners, and 112 stakes horses, led by eight Group 1 winners. With 13 graded stakes winners and 25 graded stakes horses just this year, Uncle Mo leads all North American stallions in both categories.
