Munnings Filly Wins G3 Beaumont Stakes
Undefeated filly Fancy Dress Party (3f Munnings x The Schvagen, by Matty G) kept her perfect record intact when taking out the $147,000 Grade III Beaumont Stakes at Keeneland on Sunday.
A winner at her only three previous starts, the Ben Colebrook trained filly stepping up in grade for this seven furlong assignment and was determined at the finish to win by a head.
“The horses you expected to be the speed didn’t really break well and looked like they might have been fighting the racetrack,” Ben Colebrook said.
“She was going so smooth and within herself that I was happy we were on the lead. I thought ‘well, she’s doing it’ and looks to be running them off their feet. It wasn’t the game plan, but credit to Luis (Saez) for going with Plan B. I think if he takes her back, we don’t win the race. It was an amazing ride.”
A $280,000 Keeneland September purchase, Fancy Dress Party runs for LNJ Foxwoods and has already won over $222,000 in prizemoney in winning all four of her starts to date.
She is a full sister to stakes-winner Will Munnings and is one of five winners from The Schvagen.
Fancy Dress Party is one of 30 stakes-winners for Munnings, who stands at a fee of $20,000 in 2019.
