Munnings Offerings Led By $975,000 Colt at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga
Munnings yearlings lit up the ring during the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale this week, led by a colt out of Secret Jewel purchased for $975,000 during the second session.
Signed for by Donato Lanni on behalf of SF, Starlight, and Madaket, the colt was consigned by Taylor Made Sales and bred by Three Chimneys Farm. He is a half-brother to the Grade III winning Twenty Carat and stakes placed Point Proven among the four winners out of Bernardini’s Secret Jewel.
She is just the latest successful daughter out of Silk N’ Sapphire, who produced Grade I winner Shared Account, Grade II winner Sparkle Blue, and stakes winner and Grade III placed Colonial Flag.
Sparkle Blue saw increased earnings and another win added to her record after the catalog was released while Shared Account got her own update when granddaughter Sharedashenanigans broke her maiden on debut. That filly is out of Sharing’s Grade I winner Sharing with Shared Account also producing the stakes winning Riley’s Choice.
Resolute Bloodstock bought the most expensive Munnings filly, a $600,000 offering by Darby Dan Farm out of Ghoul’s Night Out.
This Hill ‘n’ Dale-bred filly is the second foal out of that stakes winning mare. Ghoul’s Night Out is a half-sister to the dam of Grade I winner Top Queen and out of the stakes winning Amie’s Legend. Amie’s Legend is one of three stakes performers and five stakes producers out of Lunar’s Legend.
The mare’s daughters have produced horses such as multiple stakes winner Whereshetoldmetogo and stakes winners Spartianos, Miss Charm City, Jim’s Prospect, and It’s Gonna Hurt from their eight stakes performer.
Munnings other offerings brought $330,000, $330,000, and $275,000 with an average of $502,000 and median of $330,000 over the two days.
