Munnings’ Prince of Jericho Romps at Laurel
Just a few races after Munnings' juvenile daughter L Street Lady finished a close third running on the turf, his Prince of Jericho (2c Munnings x Golden Review, by Medaglia d’Oro) gave his sire a win at Laurel with an 11 ¾ length Maiden Special Weight victory on the dirt.
The colt raced a few lengths off the leader early in the six-furlong race before moving closer as they approached the quarter pole. As the field entered the stretch, Prince of Jericho was dueling for the lead and his rival gave in quickly to leave Prince of Jericho with the win.
No other horses made a challenge and Prince of Jericho romped away to put owners Michael Dubb and Morris Bailey in the winner’s circle.
Trained by Brittany Russell, Prince of Jericho was bred by Edward Seltzer in Kentucky. He is the first foal out of a half-sister to Grade II winner Sparkling Review. They are out of a multiple stakes-placed half-sister to Grade I winners No Review and Another Review in addition to multiple Grade II winner Dance Colony.
Those under Prince of Jericho’s third dam include multiple Grade I winners Cavorting and Clairiere and Grade I winner Rattle N Roll.
Munnings is the sire of 14 stakes winners and 25 stakes performers in 2022 with six graded stakes winners, led by multiple Grade I winner Jack Christopher.
