Munnys Gold Brings $300,000 For Munnings
Munnings again made waves on Tuesday when his yearling filly out of Haraawa named Munnys Gold brought $300,000 as the fifth most expensive offering of the sale.
Purchased by West Bloodstock for Robert and Lawana Low from Four Star Sales, the filly is a granddaughter of stakes-placed Alseera. Alseera is one of two stakes performers for her own dam alongside stakes winner Unico Idolo.
Munnys Gold’s third dam is a half-sister to Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Anees with champion Gold and Ivory and Grade I winner Heart of Darkness also named on the page.
Out of a Medaglia d’Oro mare, Munnys Gold is bred on the same cross as Munnings’ Grade III winner Barley and stakes winner Perfect Munnings among the 16 winners from 17 runners bred on the cross.
Having a banner season, Munnings is tied for third among all North American sires by blacktype winners alongside his stablemate American Pharoah with only Into Mischief and Curlin in front of him. He also sits fourth by 2021 blacktype performers and fifth by graded stakes performers.
