New Grade Three Winner for Uncle Mo
Progressive colt Hot Springs (3c Uncle Mo x Magical Victory, by Victory Gallop) scored a career best win in the $100,000 Grade III Commonwealth Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs on Saturday.
The Steve Asmussen trained colt scored an easy length and a half win in the 1 and 1/16th mile turf feature and his trainer believes there are more wins in store for Hot Springs, who has now won four of seven starts earning nearly $250,000 in prizemoney.
“He’s 4-for-4 over the surface here, but today was the most impressive one,” said Asmussen.
“The way he was finishing up was very impressive. Hopefully we’ll be able to come back to Churchill next year. There are some very nice races down the road for this colt.”
A $750,000 Keeneland September purchase, Hot Springs runs for Woodford Racing and is the best of three winners from stakes-placed Magical Victory, a daughter of Grade I winner Miss Houdini.
