New Lucky Stakes-Winner at Santa Anita
Lightly raced Dr Dorr (5g Lookin at Lucky x Jax El, by Unusual Heat) scored his first Black Type win when cruising clear for an easy victory in the $75,460 Santana Mile at Santa Anita on Saturday.
Prepared by Bob Baffert, Dr Dorr had won two of his past three starts and went to the post favourite for this one mile contest.
He quickly took up the lead and was never challenged in the run to the wire to win by four lengths taking his overall record to four wins from 10 starts with prizemoney in excess of $168,000.
“He broke on top, relaxed down the backside and laid it down in the lane,” said winning jockey Joe Talamo.
The 34th stakes-winner for Lookin at Lucky, he is from stakes-placed Jax El, a full sister to Grade II winner Pretty Unusual.
