New Stakes-Winner for Fusaichi Pegasus
Promising juvenile International Star (2c Fusaichi Pegasus x Parlez, by French Deputy) landed his first Black Type victory when taking out the Grade III Grey Stakes at Woodbine on Sunday.
Trained by Michael Maker, International Star looked good winning on debut at Belmont back in June and then finished second in two subsequent starts in stakes company.
With the benefit of those runs under his belt, International Star stripped fitter and more experienced for his first try at the Polytrack and powered home to win the 1 and 1/16th mile contest by a length and a quarter.
An $85,000 Fasig-Tipton yearling purchase, International Star runs for Ken and Sarah Ramsey and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Fools in Love and is one of five winners from Parlez.
International Star becomes the 72nd stakes-winner for Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus.
