Oaks Winner for Mo
Promising filly Unbridled Mo (3f Uncle Mo x Unbridled Waters, by Unbridled) became the latest stakes-winner for champion sire Uncle Mo when scoring a tenacious victory in the $101,000 Grade III Monmouth Oaks.
A homebred for the Red Oak Stable prepared by Todd Pletcher, Unbridled Mo was beaten on debut before winning her next two starts leading into this tougher Black Type assignment over 1 and 1/16th mile.
She rose to the challenge, giving her all in the run to the line to win by a neck over Tejana with Mo D’amour (3f Uncle Mo x Neverthesame, by Scat Daddy) a brave third.
“I told Paco (winning rider Paco Lopez) in the paddock how great she’s doing,” said Anthony Sciametta Jr., assistant to winning trainer Todd Pletcher.
“I was surprised to see her so close early, but they weren’t going too fast and no one was really pressing the leader. She had to grind out the win today. I was real impressed. She’s a very solid filly.”
The 18th stakes-winner for Uncle Mo, Unbridled Mo has won three of four starts earning over $100,000 in prizemoney.
Unbridled Mo is a half-sister to Grade III winner Unbridled Essence from good producer Unbridled Waters.
