O’Keeffe Romps at Arlington for Munnings

Munnings’ stakes placed daughter O’Keeffe (4f Munnings x Coco Ecolo, by Johannesburg) made easy work of the Arlington Park turf on Friday with a 5¾ length victory.

Racing over five furlongs, the filly went straight to the front and looked comfortable throughout while blitzing around the track under Jereth Loveberry. When challenged around the turn, O’Keeffe found another gear and started to pull away to have a few lengths in hand entering the stretch.

O’Keefee was well ahead of the field in the final furlong and finished 5¾ lengths in front by the time they hit the wire for trainer Larry Rivelli and owner Carolyn Wilson.

A $275,000 2-Year-Old purchase by Wilson from Wavertree at the OBS March Sale of Two-Year-Olds, O’Keeffe has won five of her 14 starts with five other top three finishes for $137,625 in earnings.

Bred by K & G Stables, O’Keeffe is one of two winners from three to race out of her Listed placed dam Coco Ecolo. That mare is one of seven winners out of Listed winning R Obsession, who is also a half-sister to two other stakes horses.

Munnings is having another top year with eight stakes winners and 14 stakes horses, led by three Grade II winning fillies.
