Quantum Burst Newest TDN ‘Rising Star’ For Munnings

Quantum Burst (2f Munnings x Irish Mischief, by Into Mischief) made the most of her second start on Saturday when the Green Lantern Stables homebred was named a Thoroughbred Daily News Rising Star.

The Brendan Walsh trainee was ready to run in the seven-furlong dirt race at Churchill Downs, but had to practice patience under Ben Curtis. Her jockey kept her wrapped up behind a dueling duo up front until they started their journey into the stretch, and she joined in the battle.

Neither was able to keep up with her and Quantum Burst romped to a 5 ½ length victory to take her record to a win and a second in two starts.

Quantum Burst is the first foal out of the Grade III-placed Irish Mischief, who was a three-time winner herself. This family also includes Grade I winners Vicar and Astronomer Royal among others.

This is the fourth TDN Rising Star of the year for Munnings and third since late September.
