Regally-Bred Margaux Mania Third Winner Of Day For Uncle Mo
Regally-bred Margaux Mania (3f Uncle Mo x Time to Tap, by Tapit) provided Uncle Mo with his third 3-year-old winner of the day when swooping to victory on Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park.
Making her second start, the Steve Asmussen-trainee was running over 6½ furlongs on dirt with David Cabrera aboard. Margaux Mania broke alertly and took the lead before Cabrera settled her just behind the leader. In the stretch, Cabrera sent his mount after the lead and she was happy to oblige. She headed the leader then pulled away impressively to win by 2¼ lengths as the favorite.
A half-sister to Listed-placed Backflash, Winchell Thoroughbreds-bred and raced Margaux Mania is the second foal to race out of Time To Tap. Though unraced herself, Time To Tap is out of Broodmare of the Year Fun House, making her a full sister to Champion and five-time Grade I winner Untapable and a half-sister to Grade I winner Paddy O’Prado.
Another Time To Tap full sister is Double Tapped, the dam of Grade II winner Majestic Eagle and Grade III-placed Double Medal. The family has proven to be prolific for generations with Grade I winners such as Olympio, Tapizar, Pyro, and Cuvee under Margaux Mania’s fourth dam.
Margaux Mania joined Serein and Modernist as winners for her sire on Saturday. Overall, Uncle Mo has sired 22 winners worldwide in the first 25 days of 2020 including two graded stakes winners.
