Ruby Lee (Air Force Blue) Breaks Maiden At Tampa Bay

Ruby Lee 17th Winner For Air Force Blue

Air Force Blue registered his 17th winner on Saturday when Ruby Lee (2f Air Force Blue x Good Time Sally, by Forestry) broke her maiden by 2 ¼ lengths at Tampa Bay Downs.

Going off as the race favorite in the six furlong affair, Ruby Lee was off quickly on the Tampa Bay dirt and pushed the leader from the start. Sticking her head in front as they entered the turn, Ruby Lee quickly opened a length on the field for the final run.

Looking back as they hit the sixteenth pole, Ademar Santos let his mount gallop home to an easy 2 ¼ length win in the end for owner-trainer Walter Woodard.

Bred by Camas Park Stud, Ruby Lee is the fourth winner for her winning dam Good Time Sally. Good Time Sally herself is a daughter of Grade III winner and Grade II-placed Golden Temper, who is out of a half-sister to Group I Italian Oaks winner Ivyanna.

Good Time Sally had a full brother to Ruby Lee in February of this year.

Air Force Blue’s 17 winners puts him alone in fourth among all freshmen sires by winners with those winners led by two stakes horses.
