Saturday Double For Uncle Mo
It was a maiden winner double for Uncle Mo on Saturday when Audrey’s Time (3f Uncle Mo x Unforgotten, Northern Afleet) broke her maiden a few hours before Pneumatic (3c Uncle Mo x Teardrop, by Tapit) secured his first win in his debut.
Racing at the Fair Grounds, Audrey’s Time broke sharply in the one mile race on turf and was in fourth a few lengths off the leader. It looked like Audrey’s Time wouldn’t be able to get the lead but that changed quickly when a hole opened as they entered the stretch and she shot through. The 3-year-old was given a handride by Brian Hernandez Jr. once she got to the front and coasted home to win by two lengths for Lothenbach Stables.
Trained by Neil Pessin, Audrey’s Time was bred by Woodford Thoroughbreds and is out of Listed winner and Grade II-placed Unforgotten, who is also the dam of Grade I-placed Silverpocketsfull.
A few states away, it was time for Pneumatic to shine in his debut at Oaklawn Park. Bred and owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds, the colt was off to a fast start in the six furlong dirt race. He quickly raced to midpack a few paths off the rail with Tyler Baze keeping him focused.
By the time the field reached the stretch, Pneumatic was ready to go and battled the leader throughout before gaining the edge in the shadow of the wire. Pneumatic crossed the line a neck in front of trainer Steve Asmussen to kick off his career.
Pneumatic is the first foal for Listed placed Teardrop, who is a full-sister to Grade III winner War Echo and Listed winner Farrier and a three-quarters sister to Grade I winner Pyro. She is also from the family of Champion Untapable.
Uncle Mo’s crop of 3-year-olds is off to a fast start on the track with four stakes horses including three-time Grade I winner and Eclipse finalist Bast.
