Scaramouche Newest Graded Stakes Winner For Munnings
It was a third straight victory for Scaramouche (3g Munnings x Haunting, by Bernardini) on Saturday when the gelding took out the Grade II Gallant Bob Stakes for his first graded stakes score.
Looking for his sixth career victory in nine starts, Scaramouche tracked the leading Speaking throughout much of the running when four wide. In the stretch, John Velazquez sent his mount for the lead and Scaramouche willingly responded to take over inside the final furlong.
Scaramouche had to dig deep late but, in the end, held off the runner-up by half a length.
The winner of a stakes earlier this year and third in the Listed Concern Stakes in July, Scaramouche now has won six of his eight career starts for owner Nick Cammarano Jr. and trainer Guadalupe Preciado.
Scaramouche was bred by Stoneway Farm and is a grandson of Grade III-placed Chagall.
Scaramouche is the sixth graded stakes winner and one of 13 stakes winners for his sire this year. Those 13 stakes winners put him second only to Into Mischief on the General Sires list with over 150 less runners.
