Second G2 Santa Margarita For Adare Manor
Uncle Mo’s dual Grade I-winning daughter Adare Manor (5m Uncle Mo x Brooklynsway, by Giant Gizmo) added another Grade II Santa Margarita win to her record on Sunday when backing up last year’s victory with a 4 ¼ length romp in this edition.
As is her custom, Adare Manor went straight to the lead in the 1 1/8-mile race and cruised on the front end with about a length between her and the rest of the field for much of the run.
In upper stretch, Adare Manor started to accelerate and showed why she went off at nearly even money odds when coasting in the final sixteenth.
Trained by Bob Baffert, it was the ninth win and 14th top two finish in 17 starts for Michael Lund Petersen’s mare, who is the earner of $1,856,600.
“Well, we wanted the ‘W’ and that was the main thing. She was training great for this, she had a big effort last time, but she handled it well and I thought this was a good spot. Won’t be another spot till we get to Del Mar for a while. We just really enjoy her and that's why Michael Lund Petersen is in the business to watch his horses run,” Baffert said.
Bred by Town and Country Horse Farms and Gary Broad, Adare Manor is one of two to race out of the Grade III winner Brooklynsway.
That mare is also a half-sister to another stakes producer out of Explosive Story. The mare’s Silent Name daughter Explosive Leah produced the stakes placed duo of Giant Teddy and Little Teddy.
Brooklynsway produced a full brother to Adare Manor in 2023.
It’s been a successful May for Uncle Mo, who has also registered two TDN Rising Stars this month.
