Six On Offer For Caravaggio At Tattersalls Craven

Already the sire of a winner and a placer from limited runners, freshman sire Caravaggio sees six juveniles from his first crop go under the hammer at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale this week.

It will prove to be a busy few hours for Caravaggio with five of his offerings selling within 45 lots of each other early in the sale.

The first through the ring comes is Lot 22 out of Horse Sense, offered by The Bloodstock Connection. The April-born filly is out of a half-sister to stakes winners Snippets and Need You Now. The M. Phelan-bred also hails from the family of Group I winners Pearly Shells and Frenchpark.

Lot 40 from Mocklershill is a colt out of a full-sister to Group II winner Battle of Marengo, Group II placed Perhaps, and stakes placed Precious Stone. A 155,000gns foal purchase at the 2019 Tattersalls Foal Sale, he was bred by Lynch Bages and Lindy Farms. The colt hails from the same Scat Daddy son x Galileo daughter cross as No Nay Never’s stakes winners Amanzi Yimpilo and Tango.

C.H. Thoroughbreds’ Lot 46 should prove to be a popular offering with the Rockhart Trading-bred a half-sister to the stakes winning Mixology out of a full sister to European champion and multiple Group I winner Soviet Song. Also under the filly’s second dam is European champion Marsha and Irish champion and Group I winner Ribbons.

The first of two Caravaggio lots back-to-back is Lot 65 from Mark Grant Racing, a grandson of multiple U.S. Grade I winner Riskaverse. Bred by the Pink Damsel Syndicate, the colt is out of the winning Galileo mare Pink Damsel. That mare is also a full-sister to Group III winner and Group I-placed Say, whose three stakes winners include Grade I winner Fog Of War. The colt’s fourth dam is Toll Fee, whose daughters have produced multiple graded stakes winners including U.S. Horse of the Year Havre de Grace and multiple Grade I winner Tonalist.

A son of multiple stakes-placed mare Pop Art is Lot 66, Caravaggio’s last offering on the first day of selling. Offered by Lynn Lodge Stud, the Marston Stud-bred colt comes from the family of stakes winner and Group I-placed Blessed Event, with others on the page including Group I winner Chorist with 17 stakes horses named on his page.

Caravaggio’s lone offering during the second day is Lot 143, a half-brother to multiple group placed Wall Of Fire and three other winners. Offered by Yeomanstown Stud, the colt is out of a Galileo daughter of Group II winner Jewel In The Sand and was bred by Charlie Brooks. There are stakes performers under three of his first four dams with the lone dam not to hit that mark producing seven winners.

The Craven Breeze Up Sale’s under tack show takes place on Monday April 12 with the sale taking place the following two days in England.
