Souper Hoity Toity Adds Ontario Damsel to Resume
It was a second stakes winner in 24 hours for Uncle Mo on Sunday when Souper Hoity Toity (3f Uncle Mo x Town Tour, by Speightstown) won her third stakes of the year in the Ontario Damsel Stakes.
Souper Hoity Toity took up her place in the third position as another filly shot to a big lead in the 1 1/16-mile synthetic race with no one choosing to take that horse on. Closely attended by another runner, Souper Hoity Toity started to make her move in the far turn and came into the stretch widest of all as she started rolling.
As the field crossed into the final sixteenth, Souper Hoity Toity took command and jockey Patrick Husbands felt safe enough in her lead to let her pick the pace near the line as she crossed half a length in front as the heavy favorite.
Bred by Dr. Richard Holder and Coolmore, Souper Hoity Toity was a $550,000 OBS March purchase last year by Live Oak Plantation. She has won five of eight starts while conditioned by Mark Casse, including two straight stakes victories this summer.
The 3-year-old is out of a half-sister to Grade I winner Moonshine Memories, stakes winning Indian Evening and stakes-placed Mo For The Money. Under Souper Hoity Toity’s third dam is the Horse of the Year Favorite Trick and Uncle Mo’s four-time Grade I-winning studmate Tiz The Law.
Souper Hoity Toity has a 2-year-old full sister named Mo Town Mayhem, who brought $350,000 this year as a 2-year-old, coming up as well.
Souper Hoity Toity is the third stakes winner of the month for her sire, who saw Celestial City won the Grade II Hill Prince yesterday two weeks after Golden Pal set a stakes record at Keeneland in the Grade II Woodford Stakes.
