South American G1 Quinella Lookin at Lucky
The Grade I Clasico Polla de Potrillos at Club Hipico in Chile on the weekend delivered a quinella for Looking at Lucky with classy colts Look Pen (3c Lookin at Lucky x Esterina, by Orpen) and Muy Gracioso (3c Lookin at Lucky x Maria Graciosa, by Grasioso II) fighting out the finish with Gran Greco (3c Mastercraftsman x Graciosa Nina, by Stuka) in third place to give Coolmore sires the trifecta.
The first two home also ran one two in the Grade I Clasico Alberto Vial Infante last season, but this time reversed the placings.
The Patricio Baezxa trained Look Pen claimed a length and a quarter win over his rival in the 1700 metre feature on turf, atoning for his recent defeat by Muy Gracioso, his first loss in four starts.
It was the first Black Type win for Look Pen, who becomes the 46th stakes-winner for Lookin at Lucky and is his 12th Grade I winner.
