Sunland Park Stakes Double for Uncle Mo

Leading sire Uncle Mo produced a stakes double at Sunland Park on Sunday with the $100,000 Mine That Bird Derby won by Conquest Mo Money (3c Uncle Mo x Stirring, by Seeking the Gold), while the $75,000 Island Fashion Stakes went the way of Mopotism (3f Uncle Mo x Peppy Raffaela, by Bernardini). Trained by Miguel Hernandez, Conquest Mo Money made it three wins in as many starts when running clear to win the 1 and 1/16th mile contest by two lengths and has now won over $132,000 in prizemoney. Raced by Judge Lanier Racing, Conquest Mo Money is the best of five winners from well-bred mare Stirring, a half-sister to Grade II winner Serenading and to the dam of Grade I winner Brilliant Speed.

The Doug O’Neill trained Mopotism was a last start second to boom filly Unique Bella in the Grade II Las Virgenes Stakes and confirmed that good form when taking out this one mile contest by three quarter of a length.

Raced by Reddam Racing, Mopotism was a $300,000 Fasig-Tipton March 2YO Sale purchase and is from a half-sister to Grade II winner Songster.
