Take Profit Continues Top Month for Air Force Blue
A top October for Air Force Blue continued on Saturday when Take Profit (2c Air Force Blue x Cavanaugh Park, by Galileo) became the ninth winner for his sire.
Racing in a Maiden Special Weight over 7½ furlongs on turf at Delaware Park, Take Profit raced in midpack a few paths off the rail just a few lengths off the lead. As the field raced around the turn, Take Profit moved closer but had plenty of work to do as they entered the straight. Showing a strong turn of foot, Take Profit closed more than five lengths to reach the leader just before the wire.
Having plenty of momentum, Take Profit won by half a length and was pulling away as they hit the line.
Trained by Jeremiah O’Dwyer for Double O Racing, the Marcus Stables-bred is the second foal out of Cavanaugh Park. That mare is a full sister to Galileo’s stakes placed Mazaz with the pair out of a half-sister to Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains winner Falco and the dam of Spanish champion Oriental.
Cavanaugh Park also has a yearling colt by Air Force Blue and a weanling filly by Munnings, visiting Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Mendelssohn this year.
Take Profit is bred on the same War Front x Galileo cross that has produced champion U S Navy Flag, three-time Group I winner Roly Poly, juvenile Group I winner Fog Of War and this year’s top European 2-year-old Battleground from 10 stakes winners and 14 stakes horses.
A European Champion 2-Year-Old himself, Air Force Blue already has a multiple stakes placed runner in Chief Little Hawk and is among the best of his generation in multiple categories on the Freshman Sire list this year.
