TDN Rising Star for Tale of the Cat

Exciting prospect Enchanting Lady (2f Tale of the Cat x AP Baby, by AP Indy) earned TDN Rising Star status with a resounding win in the $126,000 Landaluce Stakes at Santa Anita on Sunday. Beaten into second place on debut when sent out favourite last month, the Bob Baffert trained filly quickly made amends when powering away to win this five and a half furlong dash by more than six lengths. “Her last time out, it was too short for her,” explained winning rider Martin Garcia. “I had the outside post in here, so I could do what I wanted and pick the best position for her. I just started chasing the filly on the lead and when I asked her, she just took off. She’s a really good filly. She got beat by Seduire last time out. Seduire is quicker, but my filly wants to go longer.” A $90,000 Keeneland September Yearling purchase, Enchanting Lady blossomed as a two year-old to fetch $650,000 at the OBS March Sale this year after breezing a furlong in a tick over 10 seconds. The 97th stakes-winner for Tale of the Cat, Enchanting Lady is the first stakes-winner for AP Baby, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Grade III winner Olmodavor.
