TDN Rising Star for Tale of the Cat
Earning TDN Rising Star status with a resounding victory at Gulfstream on Saturday was exciting prospect JS Bach (3c Tale of the Cat x Ten Carat Lady, by Pulpit).
Second on debut last month, the Todd Pletcher trained colt made a one act affair of the 1 and 1/16th mile maiden, breaking fast and powering clear at the finish to win by eight and a half lengths.
“He’s a promising colt and we’ve been pleased with the way he’s been training," Pletcher said.
"We had high hopes for him going into his first race, but it was just a little short for him and he lost to a nice horse that day. We stretched him out and it seemed like more was what he was looking for.”
A homebred for Donald Dizney, JS Bach was passed in after bidding stalled at $85,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale which in hindsight might well end up being a good thing.
JS Bach is the third winner from Ten Carat Lady, a half-sister to stakes-winner Abulea and Brushed Bayou from Grade III winner Omi.
